Max's chest heaved in his effort to catch his breath.

He didn't think he had ever come so hard in his entire life.

Nor had he felt so completely boneless and he didn't think he could move if he tried. Turning his head to look at Carter lying beside him, he reached out with a slender finger and smoothed it across the frown that was marring the vampire's flawless features.

Max's lips twitched, and before he could help

himself, he laughed. "Why, honey, you say the sweetest things. Is that your best post-coital line?" He poked out his tongue when Carter turned his head to look at him and couldn't resist batting his eyelashes coyly.

"It's not funny, Max." Carter rolled onto his side and raised himself up on one elbow, looking down into Max's eyes. "Do you know how long I've been a vampire?"
